Our May walk was along the River Higueron and through the gorge at Frigiliana.
It was a lovely sunny day and 14 walkers including guests and several dogs accompanied us.
We met on the road approaching Frigiliana then had an easy introduction to the gorge down a winding, concrete path.
On reaching the river, we turned northward and went up the gorge, criss-crossing the water as we walked, taking in the lovely scenery, passing waterfalls and caves along the route.
There was also a local reservoir used as a swimming pool for “local residents only” according to the sign.
It wasn’t the icy cold water, of course, that stopped us taking a dip, but the fact that we weren’t Frigi residents!
The walk took about two and a half hours and we retraced our steps back to the village where the gentle introduction suddenly became an arduous climb upwards in the hot sun. Needless to say we fell into the nearest bar for some well needed refreshments.
The last walk of this summer will be on Friday June 28th, our now traditional walk up the Rio Chillar.
See calendar for details and hope you can join us.
