I do hope you all had a great summer and that you are now in the mood to discuss issues of the moment.
Our next meeting will be at Tanit Restaurant, (adjacent Torre del Mar Lighthouse), at 11.00 a.m. on Friday 13th September 2013.
My suggestions for discussion are:
Despite the recent Royal birth has the British Monarchy any relevance or future in the modern world?
Both Spain and Argentina are expected to join forces to lobby the UN to require Britain to handover both the Falklands and Gibraltar. Do you believe they have chance of success either now or in the future?
Recent statistics from the Department of Education indicate that the number of four year olds in reception classes suspended from school due to disruptive behaviour has risen by 25% over last year.
Teacher’s unions consider that peace in our classrooms can be achieved by a reduction in class sizes. Do you consider that this is the answer or does the solution lie elsewhere?
Recent astronomic football transfer fees have, in these austere times, reached a level that can only be regarded as obscene.
Nothing, of course, can be done to interfere with commercial decisions made by football clubs to pay such sums but is there a case for levying a transfer tax, (in addition to normal taxation), against the club in question to recognise the windfall?
We can discuss any other issues you may like to table at the time but in the meantime I look forward to seeing you all again.
Take care of yourselves,
